Participatory Welfare Services (PWS) proposes a project with an overall objective to provide safe drinking water sources and health & hygiene awareness focused in district Layyah. The project is intended to target villages of layyah. PWS will work on two key interventions: (i) installation of 100 hand pumps; (ii) conducting 12 health & hygiene sessions.
The major problem is that owing to poverty and lack of resources most of the people are unable to install hand pumps in their households for sucking underground water, which certainly decreases their access to drinking water. Also in this area, there are very few hand pumps in public/communal places where people can access water easily. In addition to the lack of access to safe drinking water people of the area generally lacks in proper information and awareness regarding better health and hygie
PWS will work on two key interventions: (i) installation of 100 hand pumps; (ii) conducting 12 health & hygiene sessions. The proposed strategy is that PWS will install 100 hand pumps in 10 selected villages. On the average 10 hand pumps will be installed in each village at some suitable communal locations, particular most vulnerable families in the area. Similarly, in the same target villages PWS's team will arrange 12 information and awareness sessions on health and hygiene.
Outcomes: 1. Improved access to clean and safe drinking water especially those vulnerable groups (women and children) 2. Enhanced level of awareness regarding better health and hygiene practices. Impact: 1. Reduced waterborne disease as a result of increased access to clean and safe drinking water. 2. Better health outcomes as result of enhanced information and awareness on health and hygiene aspects.
