The Uhambo South Africa team reached a new community this week with its Ndinogona I Can stimulation program training. It provided training to parents of children with disabilities at a center in a small community near Somerset West, Cape Town. It was a 4 day training and each day more parens and children showed up, after hearing about the support and education being offered. This program empowers parents with activiites to engage their children in learning and development, while also building community and a network of support. The training teaches the parents, as well as the care center workers, on 4 different areas of focus for the children at the center. Each area of focus includes mutliple toys and activities that help children develop their learning by using play. The children light up when they are included in these activities and have an opportunity to engage with others.
