Los maestros hablan /Teachers talk

By Martha Robles | Project Leader

English versión below

Muchas gracias!

English Version

For many of our teachers in Colombia dealing with diversity in the classroom is a challenge, traditionally they use to educate regular children and their methodologies are standardized for it.

Many teachers have a good attitude to advance the learning processes of students with special needs, but mostly feel their skills are not enough and that they need more preparation That´s what they told us:

"In my class, I try there is no discrimination. I see there are some children who reject others; probably due to things that moms tell them, I try to raise awareness in them but I need to learn  more to serve them better. "Margarita Ariza. Elementary teacher

“the school provide us very few resources to assist children with disabilities and almost always we have to  who look for ways to make materials and find ways to teach them; school almost never support us. Joaquín Orozco. Inclusive School Teacher

As Josefina and Joaquín, there are thousands of teachers who are willing but need training to do their job. During the previous year 214 teachers participated in the training process offered by FUNDOWN CARIBE , but the job continues and we need your help, make  your contribution and invite your friends to do it also , together we can achieve a more inclusive community.

 Thanks!
