The project "In hospital with Lékorice" continued with its activities in Thomayer's hospital even during the summer holiday season.
Our volunteers spent over 300 hours with patients at children's departments from June till August. They helped the hospitalized children to break the routine for example by playing board games. They also spent approximately 160 hours visiting adult patients. Volunteers - zootherapist, who visit patients with animals (dogs, rabbits or cats), helped in range of 10 hours.
There were five creative workshops organized at adult departments, where patients could train their motor skills, but also were able to create something nice. There was also one creative workshop for children.
Lékorice managed with help of 9 groups of corporate volunteers to improve selected hospital wards. The for example painted the rails at Department of Obstetrics, doors at Paediatric Department, cabinets at Department of Children Neurology or painted nurse’s changing rooms at Departments of Chirurgy and Neurology.
We organized summer day camp for children of hospital employees directly in hospital grounds in August. In total, 22 kids joined the camp and we got very positive feedback.
We also organized informal thank-you party for all the volunteers and hospital staff participating in the program.
