Musical performances in the Department of Geriatric Medicine
During the summer, we managed several musical performances in the Department of Geriatric Medicine. We are really grateful for that and we would like to thank everybody who participates in creating calm atmosphere for long-term hospitalized patients.
Our patients were pleased by opera singer Pavla Švestková and professional guitarist Filip Moravec, by young girls, who sang and played the ukulele for patients, by children from the kindergarten Sedlcánek, and by guitarist Mr. Schneider. We can't omit blind singer and guitarist Míša Málková, who comes to the patients every week. In the end you school year, Míša surprised us by playing on clarinet.
We are excited about this trend and hope that it will continues, because music stimulates and activates senior patients. Come and make sure yourself :-)
Dreamcatchers in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
On 21st of June, there was creative workshop in Thomayer Hospital.
Lékorice volunteers made dreamcatchers for children hospitalized in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dreamcatchers will decorate children's rooms in hospital, help children fall asleep and keep bad dreams away.
Art workshop in the Department of Geriatric Medicine
In August, a regular creative workshop for patients of the Department of Geriatric Medicine took place. We are really happy that we managed to prepare a new product for patients – mosaic decorated hand mirror!
About 25 patients took part in this workshop. All of them were pleased by common meeting during creative activity. The oldest patient was 96 years old woman, Mrs. Andela, who decorated the hand mirror for her great-granddaughter.
Summer suburban camp in Thomayer Hospital
The summer suburban camp for children of the Thomayer Hospital's employees is becoming our tradition. This year, 30 children of the hospital's employees were involved and 4 lecturers with 2 volunteers took care of them.
From Monday to Friday, children enjoyed lots of fun. Besides all kind of games and competitions also theatre performance. On Wednesday, a dog called Sofi visited the children. Sofi showedthem dog sport dogfrisbee. She was really successful, especialy when she jumped over the children lying on the ground. On Thursday, we had a small campfire, where everybody can roast the sausages.
We thank all the organizators and volunteers for great job and we are looking forward to the next year! :-)
