GlobalGiving Report

October – December 2024

Background

The International Society of Wheelchair Professionals (ISWP) joined GlobalGiving in August 2024.  Prior to this ISWP had generated minimal donations and recognised the need to increase our storytelling aspect to assist in generating revenue to support our goal of Wheelchair users and their families having access to appropriate wheelchairs and services within an empowering and supportive environment.

Donations for October – December 2024

Through discussions with our network, we received a total of $126.28USD prior to the Giving Tuesday campaignDuring the campaign we received another $625.35USD.   GlobalGiving have matched our funding for the campaign another $158USD.

These funds will help to support 30 basic test certifications in low- and middle-income countries that are working towards improving the professionalism of wheelchair professionals.  ISWP aims to identify the 30 recipients in January 2025.

Next Steps for ISWP

In 2024, ISWP conducted a member survey to inform our strategic plan.

Our strategic plan (2025-2027) will be signed off in December 2024.

Through this process, ISWP have recognised the need for a social media expert, that will assist us from January 2025 with targeted campaigns as well as assist in generating our donation revenue through various marketing strategiesWe hope to be able to expand and build on our donations with GlobalGiving.

During November, we also hosted a membership webinar which discussed the changes to our new website and new membership process.  This generated more traction through our website and social media campaign, and we now have over 11 900 members.  Through our new strategic plan and marketing strategies we hope to have more support from our community for our ongoing projects and specifically increase the capacity of wheelchair professionals in key countries to help reduce the barriers to access and appropriate wheelchair provision.
