Project Report | Jan 23, 2026
Project report as of 23 January 2026

By IMANI HAULE MATHIAS | General manager

Since the last report, the project has continued to make steady progress, with a strong focus on completing priority infrastructure and strengthening community engagement. Key construction activities have advanced, including improvements to water access points and sanitation facilities within the Isalo community. These efforts have been supported by close collaboration with local leaders, school representatives, and water user committees to ensure that the facilities respond to actual community needs and promote long-term ownership. Procurement of remaining materials was completed on schedule, allowing implementation to proceed with minimal delays.

During this reporting period, emphasis was also placed on functionality and quality assurance. Routine supervision and technical checks were conducted to ensure that installed facilities meet required safety and hygiene standards. Where minor technical challenges were identified, corrective actions were promptly taken. In parallel, hygiene promotion and awareness activities were strengthened through community meetings and targeted sessions, especially focusing on proper use and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities. These activities have contributed to improved user practices and increased awareness of the link between safe water, sanitation, and health.

Overall, the project remains on track toward achieving its intended outcomes. Early benefits are already visible, particularly in reduced pressure on existing water sources and improved sanitation conditions for users. The community continues to demonstrate strong commitment to sustaining the facilities, including participation in maintenance planning and management structures. In the next phase, the project will focus on finalizing the remaining works, reinforcing capacity-building efforts, and documenting lessons learned to ensure sustainability beyond the project period. We sincerely appreciate the continued support from GlobalGiving and donors, which has been instrumental in maintaining progress and positive momentum.
