WASH Project at Isalalo Primary School, Mbozi District
SHIPO is nearing completion of a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) project at Isalalo Primary School in Mbozi District, addressing critical challenges such as insufficient clean water access and inadequate sanitation facilities. The project includes the construction of an 8-drop-hole girls' latrine block with a dedicated changing room and menstrual hygiene management (MHM) unit equipped with an incinerator. Additionally, water facilities comprising one water point and a handwashing station with eight hygienic taps have been installed. These improvements aim to enhance sanitation, promote hygiene, and support menstrual health for female students, fostering a healthier and more conducive learning environment. The project is on track for full completion by December 2023, with a final report to be shared soon. This initiative reflects SHIPO’s commitment to sustainable WASH solutions in schools, ensuring long-term benefits for students and the community.
