Dear Donor, please receive a warm greeting. We want to take the time to sincerely thank you for your donation to this project. As you know, we started this fundraiser to provide a quality health center to the disabled children of the deprived communities of the La Altagracia province and your contribution helps us get one step closer to our goal.
We truly appreciate your support !
The center offers a welcoming and comprehensive space, with specialists highly trained, who incorporate the family into the treatment planning for these children, with the purpose of improve their living conditions and their level of social inclusion
The center opened in the community of Verón in 2020 and to date has represented a before and after in terms of specialized medical treatment for children with disabilities in the eastern region and other areas of the country.
Currently, the neurodevelopmental disorders treated at the CEDI are: autism, down syndrome, behavioral disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders associated with a medical condition (epilepsy, malnutrition and genetics), psychomotor retardation, cerebral palsy, learning disorders, emotional disorders and /or mental, intellectual disability and communication disorders, among others.
The most common medical cases are autism, cerebral palsy, psychomotor retardation, phonological disorders, neurodevelopmental disorder.
In order to update the knowledge and skills of the staff and continuously improve the medical service, some patients are periodically evaluated in the area of physical therapy with the collaboration of specialists from specialists from Akron Children's Hospital, through telemedicine.
From July 2023 to date more than 4,000 patients (0-15 years) have been treated.
By providing innovative medical care to children with disabilities throughout the region, who previously did not have access to it, since the CEDI is the only center of its kind in the eastern region of the country, we are contributing to the achievement of the Development Goals Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) (SDG 3-Health and Well-being and SDG 10-Reduction of inequalities) of the 2030 agenda of the United Nations.
In recent months, the participation of interns has increased, who are finishing careers related to the center and come from some local universities. They often provide valuable input to the center's health programs from their diverse perspectives, skills, knowledge and competencies. If the intern at the end of the program could have a prospect of being hired according to the results of the performance evaluation, it would be a plus for the center because it would affect shortening selection and induction times for future employees. They also later become ambassadors of the project and this will impact results.
Given that it is the only center of its kind in the entire eastern region of the country and the demand of the population has been increasing, we hope to expand the facilities of the center in the near future.
We look forward to continue partnering with you in order to get these goals together.
We will keep you informed about the progress of the project.
If you have any comment, advice or question, please feel free to direct them to us and we will answer as best we can.
There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your support.
Best wishes,
