Better Family Foundation has since the last report being working with Fundong communitties and its environes towars the improvement of pit latrine situations.
Most of the latrines in these communities are pit latrines which do not have lids on the opening to the pit. Consequently, flies fly in and out of the latrines and this is not good to human health especially when these flies lands on uncovered food stuffs.
To improve on the situation, Better Family Foundation staff have been working with community members to improve on the hygiene and sanitation of the latrines. To do this, the team has been going around the communities visiting latines and educating the community members on best hygienic practices. In all 51 latrines have been visited and the response from the owners was very positive.
Better Family Foundation keeps appreciating all the local authorities who are supporting the success of this program and keeps on appealing for more support from other well wishes.
Since the last report Better Family Foundation (BFF) has been working very hard to get assistance from local international , private and public institutions in order to improve on the latrine situation in Fundong Subdivision.
All efforts at having international assistance have failed to yield any fruits and BFF finally went into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Fundong council with an aim of educating the communities in order to improve on the latrine situation in the Municipality in order to improve on the hygiene and sanitation of the locality.
Better Family Foundation (BFF) continues to solicit for more partners in order to improve on our latrine conditions.
Better Family Foundation (BFF) has resorted to teaching the inhabitants of Fundong on how to care for latrines in order to improve on the latrine conditions in the subdivision, We use occasions where people gathered to teach them on how to improve and care for their latrines.
BFF staff are on the field to educate the community members in social meetings as well as in community development meetings. So far eight of such meetings have been held in various communities in Fundong and all those who have received such lessons are very impressed with the BFF initiative,
BFF is currently planning to get down to the field to do monitoring and evaluation of the impact of these trainings.
We thank all those who have been supporting us in any form to make this project to be realized.
Better Family Foundation has been working very hard to sensitize our elite and humanitarian organizations to help our communities to improve on the quallity of latrines in order to improve on our hygiene and sanitation situation. This will obviosly, help to mitigate the the prevalence of water borne diseases in Fundong Sudivision.
The latrine situation in this subdivison, is really deplorable and our cry is gradually yielding little fruits as some sympathizers of the situation, though timidly are responding positively to our cry.
It is our humble appeal that many more people listen to the plight of the peolpe of this area in order help them improve on their latrine situation.
