Improve the health outcome of a mother and newborn

HEDEN has good news to share!The Sweet Mother Program has reached Kaduna State!!!Kaduna state is crisis ridden in Northern part of Nigeria with terrorist attacks and internally displaced persons. Our Sweet Mother Program keeps expanding to reach more vulnerable mothers and their newborns. This expansion will bridge the gap in access to newborn and maternal healthcare by providing free micro-nutrients, birthing kits, child spacing methods, maternal and newborn health talks in Kaduna state currently Sweet Mother Program is in 5 community health centers and 3 communities.

HEDEN conducted a stakeholder meeting with community members in Gonigora our host community which was attended by Seriki’s representative and other gatekeepers representing all social strata in the community. Our programs was referred to as Divine. Sweet Mother Program has held 8 talks with 170 mothers and 50 infants. distributed 130 Birthing kits since December 2020 till date.

In total Sweet Mother Program since the last report has reached 257 vulnerable pregnant women and nursing mother, 35 Birthing kits, 50 doses of Vitamin A,120 doses of multivitamin for pregnant women and140 doses of Albendazole to children 1- 59 months, 108 condoms for child spacing were distributed.

Sweet Mother Program Activity Report 4

Sweet Mother Programis resilient. Through the past 17 years the program grew from 1 hospital to 11 health centers and over 80Traditional Birth Attendants bring life-saving interventions to mothers and newborns.

In the past few months Sweet Mother Programreached over poor pregnant women and nursing mother, 35 Birthing kits, 172doses of Vitamin A, 470 doses of multivitamin for pregnant women and201 doses of Albendazole to children 1- 59 months, 267 condoms for child spacing were distributed. The program is widely accepted by low-income mothers in hard to reach communities. We bring you stories from the field.
