This project will improve the lives of thousands of older people in China, supporting them to stay active, earn a living and reach out to others in their communities.
There are over 130 million people over 60 in China. By 2025, this number will have more than doubled. Older people are consistently and disproportionately among the poorest, especially in rural areas where they have limited ability to support themselves and nearly always have to depend on family.
This project will set up and maintain Older People's Associations to help older people stay active so they stay healthy for longer. This helps older people earn a living so they can support themselves and their families.
Older People's Associations will improve the health and wellbeing of their members, foster inter-generational relationships and the transfer of knowledge, and improve services for the elderly.
This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
