In our last update we reported that work was due to start on this project in August and that it would be completed in two phases during the August and December school holidays.
Work began at the start of the August holiday as planned but a shorter than expected holiday (it was reduced by the government from the usual 4 weeks to just 2) meant that phase one works had to be extended into term time. As a result and following discussions with the headteacher we resolved to complete all the works in a single phase.
We are now at the end of the sixth week of the project and work is at an advanced stage and on course for completion around the end of October. We have reconfigured the existing building to create an extra third classroom and have built the walls of the new extension which will house the office and store. The walls of the existing parts of the building have been completed replastered on both the interior and exterior, and new windows and doors have been fitted. We are in the final stages of fixing new roofing sheets on this part of the building and will complete roofing works on the extension immediately thereafter.
We have decided also to undertake a wider upgrade of the whole nursery school environment and in addition to the works on the school itself we will also build a new toilet block, create a new playground area as well as do some hard landscaping works. All these works will be complete by the time school opens for the new year in January.
