Reaching Zero-Dose Children on Immunization

By Ikechukwu Kelechukwu | Project Lead

Dear Donors,

We are proud to share the first update from our World Immunization Week Outreach Project, focused on reaching children who have been missed by routine immunization services across Nigeria.

Every year, millions of children globally remain unprotected from preventable diseases. Here in Nigeria, over 2 million children are classified as zero-dose—meaning they have never received a single vaccine. These children, often living in hard-to-reach rural areas, urban slums, and conflict-affected communities, are at the highest risk of diseases such as measles, polio, tetanus, and diphtheria.

What We Are Doing Now

With your support, our mobile health teams are preparing to move directly into underserved communities to:

  • Identify and vaccinate zero-dose and under-immunized children

  • Conduct door-to-door outreach to ensure no child is missed

  • Provide caregiver education on the importance of routine immunization

  • Strengthen community trust in vaccines and primary healthcare services

  • Link families to nearby health facilities for follow-up doses

This effort aligns with key global health priorities such as child survival, maternal and child health, disease prevention, and health equity. By taking vaccines directly to families, we are removing barriers like distance, poverty, and misinformation.

Why This Matters

Immunization is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions. Yet, missing even one child can lead to outbreaks that threaten entire communities. Our focus on last-mile delivery ensures we reach the most vulnerable—because every child deserves a healthy start, no matter where they are born.

How You Can Help

We are still working toward our $3,000 goal, and every contribution counts. Your donation will help us:

  • Procure vaccines and cold-chain supplies

  • Support transportation for mobile outreach teams

  • Train community health volunteers

  • Expand coverage to more underserved communities

Donate today to help us reach 1,050 children with life-saving vaccines and protect them from preventable diseases.

Together, we can close the immunization gap, reduce child mortality, and build healthier, stronger communities.

Thank you for being part of this lifesaving mission.
