We at iPartner India are deeply concerned with the outbreak of COVID-19 and countrywide lockdown. We work with the most marginalized and vulnerable communities across 22 states of India. Through our local network of supporters and partner, we have identified 4900 families in six states of India, who are in the need of immediate support for food, healthcare, and protection from coronavirus. These 4900 families depend on daily wages and are not covered under social benefit schemes.
Given the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 especially on the resource-poor communities, a nationwide lockdown has been announced and all preventive measures are being undertaken to control its spread. Due to this, many migrant labourers, daily wage earners have lost their livelihood. With no income in the household, they are struggling to fulfill their basic needs of food, healthcare, and hygiene.
The project will provide immediate relief to the resource poor community with basic supply of food. With your support, one family will get food supply for a month and this will help them to survive through the difficult phase. The interim support will also help the daily wage earners to start focusing on the income generation source, once the lockdown is removed.
This is an interim support for basic necessities, to the families impacted by COVID-19. In the long term, your support will help the migrant workers and daily wage earners to go back to their original source of income, once the lockdown restrictions are removed by the Government of India.
