Youth unemployment in South Africa remains stubbornly above 50%, an unemployment rate which has been climbing steadily since 2008, and which places South Africa in the bottom three nations globally for youth unemployment. A recent World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Risk report placed South Africa as having the third highest unemployment rate in the world for people between the ages of 15 to 24.
With education offerings specifically designed to enable talented school leavers from at-risk communities to gain access to accredited tertiary education, TSIBA was founded in light of the South African youth education and unemployment challenges emerging post-apartheid in 1994. TSIBA's focus ever since has been to transition talented young people from unemployability into active economic citizenship, and by doing so, profoundly changing the future trajectory of each one of our graduates.
