The iLEAD Programme is a dynamic and transformative initiative designed to empower students from underserved communities with the skills, knowledge, and resilience they need to thrive beyond secondary school. The programme places leadership development at its core, while simultaneously equipping learners with practical, marketable skills that open doors to further study, meaningful employment, and entrepreneurship. The goal is to create sustainable pathways for young people to shape their own futures and contribute to the broader development of their communities.
A core pillar of the programme is to strengthen the capacity of educators who serve as catalysts for long-term change. Through targeted training in innovative teaching strategies and leadership development tools, teachers are empowered to elevate classroom practice and to foster a culture of leadership. A structured leadership resource, such as the LEAP Africa manual, provides ongoing guidance that helps educators nurture leadership potential in every student and ensures continuity across cohorts.
The initiative also prioritises student skill development through the hands-on TVET experiences that bridge the gap between theory and practice. Participants engage in a broad range of trades and digital competencies, including tailoring, shoemaking, computer programming, website development, knitting, welding, aluminium fabrication, electrical works, automobile repair, culinary arts, and carpentry. These immersive sessions cultivate practical expertise, increase employability, and encourage self reliance.
While the programme operates with a national reach, it places particular emphasis on Northern Nigeria to address regional disparities in access to quality technical training and leadership opportunities. Through this regional focus, iLEAD seeks to catalyse equitable educational advancement and sustainable community transformation. Notably, over 15,000 direct beneficiaries have emerged from the programme, reflecting the broad reach and impact of these efforts.
Thank you for your collaboration, generosity, and shared commitment to a more equitable future.
