The iLEAD Programme is a dynamic and transformative initiative committed to empowering students from underserved communities with the skills, knowledge, and resilience required to thrive beyond secondary school. In the last cohort, our work in Sokoto State made remarkable strides, positively influencing both teachers and students and inspiring a new generation of young leaders poised to shape their communities and the nation’s future.
A total of 100 teachers were trained and equipped with innovative teaching strategies and leadership development tools to enhance their effectiveness in the classroom. Each teacher received a comprehensive LEAP Africa leadership manual, ensuring access to structured guidance for nurturing student leadership potential. This approach guarantees continuity and also builds a sustainable framework where educators remain catalysts for long term change.
In addition, 100 students participated in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) sessions designed to provide hands-on experience in high demand skills. Areas of training included tailoring, shoemaking, computer programming, website development, knitting, welding, aluminium fabrication, electrical works, automobile repair, culinary arts, and carpentry. These sessions bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing students for real world opportunities and self-reliance.
Our engagement in Sokoto reflects LEAP Africa’s dedication to nurturing leaders, educators, and innovators who drive sustainable impact. The iLEAD Programme continues to be a catalyst for empowerment, sparking educational advancement and a passion for leadership, advocacy, and community transformation.
This impact was made possible through the steadfast collaboration of our partners and stakeholders. Together, we are creating a future where education serves as a powerful engine for sustainable development, self-reliance, and collective progress.
Thank you for standing with us as we continue to champion this movement of transformation and impact.
