The iLEAD Programme is a transformative initiative designed to equip students from underserved communities with the skills, knowledge, and resilience needed to successfully transition into post secondary school life and beyond. For this cohort, our efforts in Sokoto State have significantly impacted both educators and students, fostering a new wave of empowered young leaders prepared to shape the future.
100 teachers were equipped with essential skills and strategies to effectively educate, inspire, and guide their students. Each teacher received LEAP Africa’s comprehensive manual, ensuring they have the resources needed to nurture and develop leadership qualities among students. This approach guarantees sustainability and ensures that the impact of the programme extends beyond the immediate participants to future generations of students. A crucial component for this cohort was providing 100 students with hands-on technical and vocational education through our Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET). Students received practical training in high demand skills, including, tailoring, shoe making, computer programming and website development, knitting, welding, aluminium works, electrical and automobile training, culinary arts, and carpentry.
As part of their journey towards advocacy, iLEAD participants have begun taking their voices beyond the classroom. Recently, two outstanding iLEAD students, a dedicated teacher mentor, and representatives from our esteemed partner were featured on Vision FM, Sokoto. During the live session, they shared firsthand accounts of how the iLEAD Programme has transformed their perspectives, aspirations, and capabilities.
Our ongoing efforts in Sokoto State exemplify our commitment to fostering a new generation of change agents, educators, and innovators. The iLEAD Programme has not only equipped students with technical skills but has also ignited a passion for leadership and advocacy.
The success of this programme is made possible through the unwavering support of our partners and stakeholders. Together, we are shaping a future where education acts as a catalyst for sustainable development, self reliance, and community growth.
Thank you for your continued support in driving this impactful movement forward.
