Building Skills for Tomorrow: The iLEAD Programme's Transformative Impact in Northern Nigeria
The iLEAD Programme is an impactful initiative designed to empower students from underserved communities with the skills, knowledge, and resilience needed to successfully transition to post-secondary school life and beyond. This year, we have made significant strides in Sokoto State by training 100 teachers, equipping them with the essential skills and strategies required to effectively educate, inspire, and guide their students. To aid in curriculum delivery, teachers were provided with LEAP Africa’s comprehensive manual, ensuring they have the resources to nurture a new generation of leaders.
The programme has also focused on equipping 100 students with hands-on technical and vocational skills through our Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET). Students received practical training in high-demand areas, including tailoring, shoe making, computer programming, website development, knitting, welding, aluminium works, electrical and automobile training, culinary arts, and carpentry. This extensive exposure not only prepares students for the immediate workforce but also fosters entrepreneurial mindsets and equips them for self-sustaining livelihoods. Feedback from students highlights the transformative impact of this training, with many expressing newfound confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to their communities and achieve economic independence.
Our ongoing efforts in Sokoto State are a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of change agents, educators, and innovators. Your support has been crucial in making these transformative educational experiences possible, and with it, we can continue empowering educators and students across Nigeria. Together, we are advancing a future where education acts as a catalyst for positive, enduring change, inspiring self-reliance, and community development across the nation.
Thank you for your invaluable support.
