The 2024 iLEAD Programme, aimed at empowering students in underserved communities and preparing them for a successful transition to post-secondary school life, launched at the beginning of the year with the training of 100 teachers in Sokoto State, Nigeria. These educators gained essential skills and strategies to effectively impart knowledge, skills, and tools to their students. Armed with the comprehensive LEAP Africa manual for the curriculum delivery phase, these 100 teachers have returned to their schools, ready to educate, inspire, and empower the future leaders of tomorrow.

The curriculum delivery phase of the iLEAD Programme is designed to equip the students with essential life skills, leadership values, entrepreneurial acumen, and employability skills. Through this training, students are being prepared for the challenges and opportunities of life after school, irrespective of the career path they choose. The training not only focuses on academic excellence but also emphasises personal development and social responsibility. By instilling these values and skills, the programme aims to produce well-rounded individuals who can contribute meaningfully to community and national development. These young leaders are being empowered to become change agents who can drive progress and innovation in their respective communities.

During our visit to some of the schools where the curriculum delivery has commenced, we spoke with several students. One of the students stated that she has learnt about self leadership and what it takes to be a good leader. In the future she wants to cascade her learnings from the iLEAD programme to other people. Another shared that he sees himself as a sun because he wants to enlighten people and educate them in the near future.

Your support plays a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding these impactful initiatives. By empowering educators and students nationwide, we collectively contribute to the emergence of change agents and solution providers in communities across the country. Together, we can create a future where education acts as a catalyst for positive and lasting change.

Thank you.
