Thank you for your incredible support! Through your generous donations on GlobalGiving.org and our off-line giving programs, we have sponsored 45 of the 50 children that are waiting to join our program and raised the majority of the scholarship funds. This brings us to 86% of the way towards sponsoring a new class of 50 Dreamers this spring.
The excitement about the opportunities that this class will provide to 50 second graders from low income communities is evident in the support that we have received from the St. Vrain Valley School District, the staff at Rocky Mountain Elementary in Longmont where the new class will begin, the community and especially in our community of Dreamer Alumni.
In fact Dreamer Alum, Jason Vallery, who became a "Dreamer" in fourth grade and now works at his dream job as a senior premier field engineer for Microsoft continues to give back to the organization that supported him when no one else would by sponsoring a Dreamer and by teaching programming workshops to current Dreamers. According to Jason, "my project coordinator and the I Have a Dream Foundation were really the only consistency in my life while I was going through all of that, and having someone who supported and cared about my education is what kept me on track." Over the next couple of months, with your support, we hope to raise the remainder of the funds for this new class so that we can have a robust program in place this spring as we head into our full day summer programming to help curb summer learning loss in Dreamers and prepare them to start the next school year strong. Again, we thank you for your on-going support and for sharing our project with your friends and colleagues.
