Although everyone has equal value, not everyone has equal opportunities. It is an unfortunate fact that many families in New Zealand have lived with multi-generational poverty, and as such, have not had the resources, networks and experience (of higher education and professional careers) to build a ladder to to escape the poverty trap. Especially now, when a good education (in both academic and life skills) is crucial to securing gainful employment, we are seeing growing inequality.
Using an evidence-based, whole-child approach, we work with Kiwi kids for up to 15 years, from their first years at school until they move on to tertiary study or employment. We provide wraparound services and do whatever it takes to keep each of our Dreamers on track - because we know that giving kids access to the support and resources they need will lead to improved academic and life success. This programme is based on the model proven over 40 years in the US serving over 18,000 children.
To produce positive outcomes for the children, their families & communities at our 4 partner schools. We offer a a "Navigator"- a consistent caring adult/mentor, for up to 15 years of their school life, providing on-going support & encouragement via life-coaching, tutoring, extra-curricular activities etc, and instil values of higher education, career aspirations and life success ensuring all children have the resources, opportunities & networks to help them see what's possible
