Carmela suffers from a serious genetic disease and the car the family uses to transport her is now obsolete, small and without adequate equipment. Having learned of the problem, we at IBO Italia felt called into question. We believe it is appropriate, as a community, to get involved in supporting her family in addressing this need. We have decided to donate to Carmela a new lifting system that can allow her to move more comfortably and safely with her loved ones.
Affected by a serious illness in 2002, Carmela gradually lost the ability to speak, eat and move. In order to be able to transport her by car, the family had equipped themselves with a lifting system that allowed them to lift and place her in the front seat. However, in recent years, this system has become very dangerous for her safety. A new and modern lifting system is needed to be installed on a minivan.
The purchase of a new lifting system and the changes to be made in the new minivan will allow Carmela's family to be able to make her moving safetly and comfortably. The new system will consist of a lift for the wheelchair and of a particular internal setting of the seats that will allow the wheelchair to be blocked and a person to be seated at Carmela's side. In this way Carmela will be able to move again and do the things she loves.
Once modified and equipped with all the comforts needed by Carmela to travel safely, the minivan will be able to change totally her life. Not only it will be easier for her to move around for daily needs, but thanks to her incredible tenacity, Carmela will be able to get back doing the things she likes, as being outdoors, travelling and visiting new places. A new life opportunity will be given to a woman who has always shown her solidarity to others.
