Joy Foundation has been working for women hygiene for a long time. We have constructed toilets for women in different rural areas. This helped the women a lot. This not only helped women but it also stopped the issue of open defecation, which was very beneficial for environmental hygiene and sanitation. The supported families were also given awareness sessions on the safe use of these toilets, the importance of toilets, the harms that open defecation can cause and the benefits of toilets for women and girls. We will continue this work and keep targeting the rural areas where open defecaton is still a norm for people and safety of women and girls is not considered important.
This time we targeted the young girls with hygiene kits which included items for personal hygiene. This kit will help these women to practice safe hygiene practices. Before the distribution of hygiene kits, these women and girls were given awareness session on the utilization of the hygiene products and why the hygiene is important for the safety and health of women and girls. These practices will not only keep you healthy but will also impart a great deal of knowledge to other family members as well so that they can also start practicing these hygiene measures. The products included in hygiene kit were women's personal hygiene products, toothpaste, tooth brushes, haircomb, soaps, antiseptic liquid, mosquito repellant, cotton buds, nail clippers and towels.
