With your generous support, St. Boniface Hospital was able to purchase essential supplies to keep staff and patients safe in the event of a major storm. Although we were lucky that this hurricane season did not bring destructive storms to southern Haiti, these suppiles will be useful in any future emergencies we may encounter. Purchases included flashlights, batteries, whistles, first aid kits for all hospital vehicles, plastic sheeting and duct tape, water purification tablets, canvas tarps, and matches. Funds also helped our staff take precautionary measures like boarding up windows to prevent damage from wind and heavy rain, which did fall during major storms this season. Disaster preparedness may not be the most glamorous part of running a hospital, but without it, we could not do this work at all. We can’t thank you enough for supporting this critical aspect of our work to keep patients and staff safe and healthy.
