Thank you for supporting Unity in Disasters and our disaster recovery efforts for families affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene in the Tampa Bay region.

Through GlobalGiving donor support, Unity in Disasters continued providing direct assistance to vulnerable families recovering from storm-related damages and displacement.

Program Highlights

Assisted families with disaster case management, recovery planning, and referrals to community resources.
Provided 53 gift cards during April and May 2026 to help families impacted by Hurricane Milton with minor home repairs and recovery-related expenses.
Launched a special needs generator outreach program that provided 20 portable 8500 watt generators to eligible households.
Coordinated the installation of transfer switches and related electrical equipment, allowing generators to safely power limited household circuits during future power outages.
Continued outreach to elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children who remained vulnerable following the storms.

Impact

The support provided through this funding helped families improve their safety, stability, and preparedness for future disasters. Many recipients lacked sufficient insurance coverage or other recovery resources and depended on community assistance to continue rebuilding their lives.
