Americares is responding to Hurricane Helene, meeting the health needs in the hardest-hit communities. The teams are ready to deliver medicines and relief supplies and provide emergency funding to support the restoration of health services.
Hurricane Helene made landfall late Thursday Sept. 26 in Florida's Big Bend region as a Category 4 storm with life-threatening flooding, dangerous storm surge and intense winds. The large storm is causing extensive damage and power outages from Florida's Gulf Coast to Georgia, Tennessee and western North Carolina.
Upon arriving in the affected areas, our emergency response experts will immediately begin assessing damage to health facilities and coordinating with local partners to ensure that communities receive the care they need. We have made outreach to nearly 360 local partner organizations across 8 states located in the path of the storm to offer assistance and support health needs. Our response will leverage our core strengths in delivering medicine, medical supplies, and supporting health services
Americares is focused on restoring health services for families affected by the storm and is ready to deliver medicines and relief supplies to affected communities, as well as provide emergency funding to support the restoration of health services. We are committed to staying in the region for as long as it takes to help families recover.
