Hurricane Harvey relief efforts continue into 2018!
The Food Bank RGV continued its commitment to feed those affected by the hurricane by sending up a truckload of nearly 40,000 pounds of fresh produce in early February. The load contained 39,130 pounds of mixed produce including: bell peppers, tomatoes, green beans and broccoli. It was sent directly to the Coastal Bend Food Bank located in Corpus Christi, Texas, an area heavily affected by the hurricane.
Once delivered to the Coastal Bend Food Bank, the staff there continued to distribute the produce in the following breakdown: 139 households, 300 individuals in Brooks County; 152 households, 356 individuals in Kleberg County; and 189 households, 482 individuals in San Patricio.
With the help of GlobalGiving and its donors, we were able to cover the cost of shipment to our sister food bank and help strengthen the rebuilding efforts of their community! Think about it, 40,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce!
Thank you!
