As of November 1, 2017, the Food Bank RGV has been able to transport nearly 2 million pounds of bottled water, dry food and relief items (along with helping coordinate other donations from other groups) to Hurricane Harvey affected areas including: Corpus Christi, Victoria, Taft, Aransas Pass, Orange, Beaumont and Houston. Over 20 semi trucks have trekked to the Gulf Coast area to deliver and distribute relief. About 800,000 pounds of fresh produce was delivered to over 6,500 adults and children in affected areas.
The Food Bank RGV is still coordinating with sister food banks in Chorpus Christi, Victoria, Beaumont and Houston to support recovery efforts as long as required.
GlobalGiving, corporate disbursements and individual donors have helped us make the difference in the lives of thousands!
We are still helping feed evacuees seeking shelter in our own service area of Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties. For many, recovery will take months; for others, they may have to choose to relocate to the Rio Grande Valley.
Thank you for your continued support; we simply cannot do our work without your help!
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
