Hurricane Laura was only the beginning of a series of emergencies in this region. Late last evening (OCT 09) Hurricane Delta came into Louisiana and destroyed weeks worth of progress in rebuilding. All around, agencies that provide relief are stretched thin this year. We need you, our friends, community organizations and individuals with kind hearts to team up with us on this endeavor. We can help Louisiana rebuild together over the next year, just as we did in Florida after Hurricane Michael.
Hurricane Delta only exacerbated parishes (counties) that were already devastated by Hurricane Laura about a month and a half ago. Some of the homes were honestly just drying out or getting roofs patched when this storm came. Many of the groceries stores and hardware stores are without power and supplies again, and it could be a long time before they open up. Many stores and residents are on their last leg, struggling with the thought of rebuilding as insurance companies are overwhelmed
We can help them sustain with food and temporary fixes while insurance companies figure out bonds to fulfill claims. We have become a staple in these types of areas as they rely on us, not only for rescue, but for our relief efforts. These are our extended neighbors to the south and we want to show them that they are cared for.
These areas will thrive again. They just need help to sustain the thousands of families that run the local economy through their jobs and services. Their homes need food, hygiene and supplies to patch roofs. Running generators will help them gain some electricity to cook, as well as to run nail guns to patch roofs with tarps we have as well as boards they've purchased in some areas.
