It’s been two weeks since Hurricane Debby’s destruction began in the southeast and more than 250 trained American Red Cross responders are still there, helping the thousands of people impacted by the storm as they clean up their homes and plan their next steps.
Since shelters were opened for this disaster, the Red Cross and our partners have provided more than 1,948 overnight stays in more than 60 emergency shelters. In addition to supporting shelters, Red Cross teams are bringing relief services directly to people cleaning up their homes. This support includes thousands of meals, cleanup kits, and other resources to help families start recovering after the storm’s destruction.
Thanks to your generosity and the generosity of so many, we have raised the funds we need for the Hurricane Debby disaster response and recovery. The American Red Cross is no longer accepting donations for Hurricane Debby. Our work in this community will continue as we put the generous donations to work in the aftermath of this disaster.
The American Red Cross responds to 60,000 disasters per year – the vast majority of those are home fires. For disasters big and small, our volunteers provide comfort during what can be the worst day of a person’s life.
