Stigma remains one of the major challenges facing people living with HIV/AIDS. For young people, fear of being judged or rejected can create isolation and prevent them from seeking the support they need.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda uses counseling, peer support, and community education to help address these challenges. We create opportunities for young people living with HIV to communicate openly, learn from one another, and receive compassionate guidance.
Our peer-support groups help participants develop confidence while encouraging positive attitudes toward treatment and healthy living. Individual counseling provides personalized support for young people experiencing fear, anxiety, relationship challenges, or difficulties coping with their status.
We also involve caregivers and community members in HIV awareness activities designed to promote understanding and acceptance.
Every young person deserves to be treated with dignity.
With donor support, we can expand these services, reach more vulnerable communities, and help build a future where HIV-related stigma no longer prevents young people from living confidently and pursuing their dreams.
