Good health involves more than access to medical treatment. Young people living with HIV/AIDS also need emotional support, understanding, encouragement, and opportunities to build resilience.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda provides counseling and psychosocial support to help vulnerable adolescents and young people cope with the emotional challenges associated with HIV. Our services include individual counseling, peer-support sessions, life-skills education, HIV awareness, and referrals to appropriate services.
We encourage young people to speak openly about their experiences and challenges in confidential and supportive settings. Through counseling, participants can develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen self-esteem, and gain confidence in managing their lives.
We also work with parents, caregivers, schools, and communities to build supportive environments and address HIV-related stigma.
Continued donor support will allow us to expand counseling and psychosocial services to more vulnerable young people. Together, we can promote emotional well-being, dignity, resilience, and hope among those affected by HIV/AIDS.
