An HIV diagnosis should never prevent a young person from dreaming about a better future. However, stigma, fear, and emotional pressure can make it difficult for many young people to maintain confidence and hope.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda works to empower young people living with HIV/AIDS through counseling, psychosocial support, peer engagement, life-skills training, and HIV education. Our goal is to help them understand their rights, make informed decisions, seek appropriate care, and develop the confidence to pursue their aspirations.
Counseling gives young people an opportunity to discuss their fears and challenges in a supportive environment. Peer groups provide friendship and encouragement, helping participants realize that they are not alone.
We also engage caregivers and community members to promote acceptance and reduce discrimination.
