Living with HIV/AIDS can bring emotional and social challenges that are difficult for young people to face alone. Fear of stigma, discrimination, rejection, and uncertainty about the future can affect confidence, relationships, education, and commitment to treatment.
Through our counseling and psychosocial support program, The Girl Child Foundation Uganda creates safe spaces where young people can talk openly about their experiences without judgment. Trained counselors and peer supporters provide encouragement, guidance, and practical life-skills support.
We encourage young people to understand that an HIV diagnosis does not end their dreams. With appropriate treatment, emotional support, and a supportive environment, they can continue their education, develop careers, build healthy relationships, and contribute positively to their communities.
Our program also engages parents, caregivers, and community members to promote acceptance and reduce stigma. With donor support, we can reach more vulnerable young people with counseling, peer support, HIV education, and referrals to essential services.
Together, we can restore hope, strengthen resilience, and ensure that young people living with HIV/AIDS are supported to live healthy, productive, and dignified lives.
