Humanitarian appeal in the wakeof COVID19 pandemic

SPHEED is a grass root level community based organization working for the all round development of women and downtrodden sections of the population in its service area villages through awareness creation, capacity building, skill development, income generation, leadership development and community organization activities. SPHEED has been functioning in the rural and tribal villages in Thiruvannamalai district, Tamilnadu State, India.
SPHEED’s COVID Relief Work
In view of the dimensions of the natural calamity that has affected people in Chennai, SPHEED considered it important that it supplements the efforts of the government thereby helping communities to cope and recover from the disaster. Towards this end, SPHEED applied for financial assistance through GlobalGiving, UK in which SPHEED is a partner.
- This project being submitted for the consideration and support of`Covid -19 Response Fund is to provide essential livelihood products to 100 worst hit poor families in 20 rural villages due to Covid – 19 / Corona and subsequent lockdown.
- The beneficiary families include daily wage workers, agricultural coolies, workers in brick kilns, stone quarries, construction workers, contract labourers, street vendors etc.
- The beneficiary families will be provided the livelihood projects for a period of 3 months to tide over the temporary crisis caused due to Covid-19.
- Through this project each of the 100 beneficiary families will be provided the following package of provisions every month
- 20 Kgs of rice, 3 Kgs of wheat flour, 2 Kgs of Toor dhal, 2 kgs of black gram dhal, 2 Kgs of edible oil.
- Other products that will be provided to the beneficiary will be soaps & hand sanitizers& masks
