Under the current situation, as result of the lockdown, the lowest strata of the society, comprising of daily wage workers, agricultural coolies, in brick kilns, stone quarries, construction workers, contract labourers, street vendors have been the worst hit. They lost the only source of their income and have nomeans to make both ends meet or provide food for their families

Under the current situation as result of the lockdown, the lowest strata of the society, comprising of daily wage workers, agricultural coolies, brick kilns, stone quarries, construction workers, contract labourers, street vendors have been the worst hit. These groups have lost the only source of their income and have no means to make both ends meet or provide food for their families.
Supplies of basic necessities like milk, water and vegetables have been affected due to logistical difficulties. As a result prices of all these items have doubled and tripled. Apart from basic necessities, fuel supplies and travel have been affected. In essence the bare truth is that thousands of people are under extreme need for food and water and cloths and shelter. This scenario is not confined to towns and cities but also for people in the rural areas.
The help needed is with regard to meeting the survival needs of the poor category of the population that have lost their livelihood as a result of the lockdown. Reports about the actions by the government in the immediate future indicate that this lockdown will be continued for a longer period.
