Our thoughts are currently with the people in Kharkiv, who are in need of quick and uncomplicated support. Kharkiv has been under almost constant Russian attack since mid-April, leading to a rising number of casualties. There was not even a ceasefire during the Easter celebrations. The power supply and telecommunications of Ukraine’s second-largest city have been repeatedly interrupted. Even hospitals, schools and hotels in the city centre have been attacked.
On 10 May, Russia started a ground offensive against Kharkiv region, leading to a critical situation in villages and settlements near the Russian border. Over 10’000 people have since had to evacuate to the city if Kharkiv. The humanitarian situation in Kharkiv significantly deteriorated, leaving many people in need without the necessary support.
We have therefore significantly expanded our humanitarian aid for the people in and around Kharkiv:
In the next weeks and months, we will continue our tailor-made support of the people in Kharkiv. We will keep focusing on those most in need. Together with our local partners, we will continue to recognise and close the gaps in humanitarian aid for the civilian population.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported our emergency aid for Kharkiv! Please consider supporting again by donating or by sharing this project with friends, colleagues and family!
