On Aug 31, '25, a severe 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern AFG, particularly in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. According to current figures as of Sep 1, approx. 800 people were killed and nearly 2,800 injured. 3 villages were completely destroyed, and rescue teams are fighting against time in difficult terrain. Our goal: to provide timely, effective support to those most urgently needed.
The affected region is very remote, infrastructure has been damaged - rescue workers urgently need support and the survivors must be cared for. Afghanistan is already in a dramatic humanitarian crisis: declining international support, high levels of financial poverty, and limited accessibility for women. International support is still pending - those affected now depend on our solidarity.
Our goal: to provide timely, effective support to those most urgently needed. To this end, we are in close contact with local colleagues. This makes it possible to provide survivors with medical assistance, food, water, or emergency shelter.
The earthquake region must be helped as quickly as possible to support the injured as well as people that are now affected by homelessness. Together with other organizations, people should be able to overcome this time as quickly as possible and one day return to their everyday lives. Time is running out - let's stand together to help the survivors!
