Dear supporters,
Thank you for your continous support. Spring is here in Ogatsu, and as pandemic has gradually slowing down and alerts have lifted, we have started to receive children to our center.
March 11 was the eleventh memorial since the great earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Construction of roads and sea wall is still ongoing. Local residents' appeal to the local government to create agricultural park has succeeded and moving forward. Land where tsunami destroyed have not been used since 2011. Now, local government will provide new soil for agricultural use to cover the land destroyed by tsunami. First small section have been completed and we have started to fertlize our land. We named this land leaf garden, where children will be able to eexperience organic farming.
In April, we have started a new project. We have been planning to receive children who will stay for a year. Long term stay program is focused to provide rich learning experiennces daily at MORIUMIUS, for them to become sustainable citizen. Also, children will help the local school in Ogatsu from closing down. Local elementary and Junior High is struggling since the number of students have decresed rapidly for the last ten years. Three children age twelve and thirteen have moved to MORIUMIUS in early April. We are excited to live with them in this environment. Let's us see their growth and affect on the community. We will keep you updated with the drama!
Hoping the people who have infected will recover, and the pandemic all over the world will be contained soon. Also hoping for peace to come for those suffering from war. We need your support to keep MORIUMIUS survive this pandemic, so that we will be able to keep providing sustainable learning for children and to revitalize community from disaster.
Warm regards,
