Getting ready for exciting season!

Season for rice planting
Season for rice planting

Dear supporter,

Thank you always for your support.  As the season passes from spring to summer, MORIUMIUS is getting ready to receie yet another exciting season with children.

In June, local elementary school students gathered to plant rice to MORIUMIUS' rice field.   Our rice field uses recycle waste water from our center.  Since the town Ogatsu is by the ocean, rice fields are rare to see in this community.  Students were excited to get into the rice field with bare foot.  Local organic rice farmer joined to demonstrate and teach students how to plant rice.  These rice will grow until October to harvest.

Thursday, July 18 was our fourth anniversary.  Celebration started with 30 kg big blue fin tuna slicing it with children gathered for this occations.  Four years was fast, since opening its door in 2015, MORIUMIUS has received over 6,000 guests.  Although we have gained experiences with children in nature together with locals, revitalization of the community is still far.  Locals are finally back to their houses after the construction of permanent houses have finished this year.  We believe community design will take place in the next few years and MORIUMIUS will be taking part of the long journey to create brighter future.

Our prime summer program will be starting from July 27.  One week, children gathering from domestically as well as internationally will be spending time in nature learning how to live sustainably.  There will be many interactions with local communities.  From fisherman to storyteller, local residents will be receiving children to share local culture and experienes from tsunami in 2011.

Thank you again for your  continous support.
