ICAP 2016 Class:
ICAP alumni and senior mentors, faculty and friends have given more generously than at any previous time. Moreover, with help the United Nations Foundation, University of Denver, Council on Foreign Relations, Aspen Institute and the U.S. Department of Agriculture as well as new donors U.S. Department of State and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funding, ICAP 2016 will be held in Aspen, Colorado, from October 8- 16, 2016.
Based on the success of last year’s “Introduction to ICAP” one-day program held in Washington DC at the start of the ICAP program this will again be held on September 24, 2016. The ICAP Alumni Association will hold a networking reception this evening so please save the date for this with a formal invitation to follow.
ICAP Alum give back:
July 19, 2016, nine ICAP Alumni volunteered time to mentor college and high school students participating in the Global Kids Summer Institute. ICAP mentors engaged for two –hour speed mentoring and group activities. Participants reported that the excitement of the young people when asking about careers in international affairs was contagious and many have already asked about volunteering next year. The Alumni Association will be looking for volunteer opportunities for alumni through out the year so stay tuned for announcements.
Mitsubishi Human Resource Development Conference Call:
On June 21st, the Alumni Association provided a unique opportunity to speak to Human Resources regional director for a fortune 500 company about the recruitment process into the private sector. Helen Gimba, Africa Regional HR Manager at Mitsubishi Corporation International (Europe), based in London, UK spoke to a group of alum regarding transitioning from the public sector to the private sector, resume tips and standing out in a crowded job market.
ICAP Is CFC Certified!
ICAP has received Combined Federal Campaign Designation. This designation allows ICAP to be featured in this year’s annual CFC catalog. CFC today is known to be the most inclusive workplace giving campaign in the world with the number of participating charities estimated at over 20,000 nonprofit charitable organizations worldwide. The charities supported through the CFC range from nascent community groups to large, well-known charities.
