Conference on Diversity in International Affairs and Mid-Year Reunion Highlights:
The 2016 Conference on Diversity in International Affairs was held at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC on April 15-16, 2016. The annual event is the collaborative effort by the International Career Advancement Program, the Council on Foreign Affairs and the Global Access Pipeline project, which aims to connect students and professionals from diverse backgrounds to career opportunities in international affairs.
This year’s event including over 300 participants from across the country, over 45 senior executives and foreign policy subject matter experts as speakers and moderators for the 10 session program. This year’s feature keynote speaker, Kalpen Modi, Actor and Former Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement, The White House, and Ambassador Reuben E. Brigety II, opened with an interesting discussion on multimedia, film and music and its role in diplomacy. New to the program this year were sessions on Gender and Violent Extremism and Advising Political Campaigns.
The two days concluded with the 2016 ICAP mid-year reunion and the ICAP Alumni Association Annual Diversity Award Recipient Stacey D. Williams, Acting Deputy Director, Office of the Haiti Special Coordinator, U.S. State Department, ICAP Alum, (ICAP 02).
