Greetings from ECI!
Our Social and Economic Integration Program (SEIP) that equipes young women with disabilities with vocational training and work placements has trained 15 participants online between 11 February- 30 April 2025. Your support to this program has been essential and extremely valued. The daily training sessions were designed to equip youth with essential personal, social, and professional skills. Using a learner-centred and experiential approach, the program focused on self-awareness, communication, problem-solving, health, hygiene, and workplace readiness. It combined theoretical knowledge with practical application to promote holistic development and real-world competence. Through online classes, ECI is testing new modalities to reach youth with disabilities in their homes, acknowledging that physical attendance to classes is often a barrier for many. And this training was a huge success!
In addition, ECI is starting 4-month long on-site vocational training for 25 young women with disabilities in Kabul and Nangarhar provinces, followed by 2-month work placement. The training and work placement are building bridges for these young women to gain the skills and confidence to income generation and employment.
We are extremely grateful for your support to young women with disabilities to gain income in Afghanistan.
Sincerely yours,
ECI team
