Thank you so much for supporting Houston Food Bank's disaster-relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. I wanted to briefly share with you how we are responding to the needs of our neighbors in the greater Houston area. Our building, located just east of downtown Houston, is a 308,000 square foot warehouse with a full production kitchen and office space. The roads surrounding HFB were flooded and impassable until Wednesday, August 30th, when staff were finally able to safely return to work. Thankfully, the building itself was not damaged or flooded, which means the food inside was not compromised. Since the end of August, the Food Bank has been operating in disaster-relief mode, operating 24 hours in two, 12-hour shifts, seven days a week. Please see the attached document for some of the service highlights made possible through the generosity of people like you.
