Due to heavy rains during the year 2010, 298 families of Avanigadda and Nagayalanka Mandals of Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India had lost their thached houses.  During this floods, these families not only lost their houses but also lost their livestock, food grains ect.  Since ASSIST had been working in these geographical area since six years, initially rescue operations had been done to these severely affected families and food and other facilities had been provided immediately.  Soon after receiving request from the flood affected families for the construction of permanent houses, "Provide Housing for 298 Flood Victims in India - #6356" project has been posted on to GlobalGiving website. We have received overwhelming response from the donors for this project through GlobalGiving web portal. Through a series of donations been received through Global Giving web poral from different donors who are from the across the globe, some of the Flood affected families have been able to build their houses and they are feeling extremely happy after receiving this sort of generous support.  The rest of the families who are not yet started to construct their houses and the families who are yet to be complete their houses had taken the decision to build their houses their own without seeking external support.  This resolution has been made in the Village Development Society and got resolved by the members of the committee.

The families of these two mandals, Avanigadda and Nagayalanka would like to express their sincere gratitude to the donors who have supported them in their critical scenario.

With this strong reason, ASSIST would like to deactivate this project from GlobalGiving web portal.  ASSIST also would like to express greatefulness to GlobalGiving web portal as well as the donors who came forward to give handholding support to the victims of floods in this geographical area.

ASSIST will always look forward the same kind of cooperation and partnership towards the deprived and needy people.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

J 'Ranga Rao
