By Peter N. Dolo | Executive Director
To our generous donors, thank you for directing your donations to our housing project for rural students in Liberia among many projects on GlobalGiving. It has been a long journey since we launched this call, and we are happy that you took the time to show up with your dollars.
Through your donations, we are reaching incredible milestones with our project. At the moment, we have surveyed and purchased half-acre of land to effectuate construction of initial housing unit(s) to provide urban accommodation for rural students seeking to overcome the challenge of limited access to secondary schools in their communities. The land is located in the Cotton Tree Community in Gbarnga, the second largest urban community in Liberia. The land is also an ideal space for construction but currently covered with bush and giant size trees making construction work almost impossible.
To this end, our volunteers have begun clearing the site to enable us to start the building project. While we still need more support for this project, it's honest to note that your dollars are making maximum impacts on the ground.
It's providing feeding and mini compensation as our volunteers work to ensure that we make maximum impact with what you have donated so far.
With what you have started, we are convinced that together we can help house 80 rural Liberian Students annually as they seek to overcome the challenge of limited access to secondary schools in their communities. We also hope that you will share this to rally the support of your network so that we can do this together.
We remain grateful of your generosity.
Thanks so kindly for donating!
