A Grand Vision

House of Hope

The House of Hope is a project of One Humanity Institute(OHI). "The Mission of the Institute is to become a collaborative plaform that supports the universal values of peace, tolerance, dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity for all life through innovative progams and experiences". One such project is their House of Hope, originally conceived to be a welcome center and Bed&Breakfast in the town of Osweicim Poland, home to the Nazi Death Camp of Auschwitz.

When Putin's war began, OHI decided to turn the House of Hope into a residence for Ukrainian refugees. Kate Jewell arrived in Osweicim Poland on March 31 to work with those refugees that she believed would soon be living in the House of Hope.  To her surprise, the renovation of this 100 year old building was not nearly completed...it had actually just begun. Now, over two months later, there is still  NO ONE living there.  It seems the sense of urgency we've felt to make sure refugees have a safe place to live has been over-shadowed by the architectural and bigger vision of the project.

OHI has connected with corporations and organizations that have donated large sums of money to help them someday achieve their goal of helping Ukrainian refugees.

However, knowing how urgent the housing need is for those fleeing Ukraine, AAI feels more compelled to work with individuals  who feel that same urgency and are actually creating housing...NOW.  Thus, we are closing this project for the House of Hope.

We truly wish the House of Hope the very best and hope to see Ukrainians living there in the very near future.
