We are appreciative for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates about ActionAid’s emergency response to the drought in the Horn of Africa.
The March-May 2022 rain season was the driest on record in the last 70 years and it evolved into a largescale humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa. This crisis continues to grow as at least 36.1 million people have been affected by this drought since October 2020.
ActionAid is on the ground to support those most affected. In Somaliland, we are working with village committees, women groups, traditional leaders, and local and national authorities to design relevant interventions and ensure that those most affected by this crisis are supported. Furthermore, we have provided more than 93,000 people in Kenya with cash transfers, water, and food. We have also provided counseling to 2,000 survivors of gender-based violence in our safe spaces located in Ethiopia. ActionAid continues to remain committed to both long- and short-term support during this crisis.
Your commitment to human rights makes a difference. It has never been more crucial. Thank you again for your solidarity and support.
